NYU Tandon @The Yard
The NYU Tandon @The Yard opened its doors as a new augmented and virtual reality space in the Navy Yards in Brooklyn, an emerging neighborhood for innovation, technology and fabrication. The Tandon Lab had a unique ask, to leverage the industries in New York and become a cross-pollinator of new ideas and approaches to immersive technologies. We developed a strategic direction by engaging various stakeholders, inviting them to share their views on how the space can support their activities and collaboration.
We provided benchmarking research of small and larger innovation hubs in New York and around the world, conducted interviews with local leaders in the space, and visited a variety of studios to understand the evolving ecosystem. We defined the goals for the lab and framed future opportunities for programming, production, and partnerships to promote innovation in NYC and connect investors, universities, corporations, and community organizations. * Developed while at Arup.
